“I think watches are like special jewels, perfect for different occasions. I love collecting them—some are hard to find, others have sentimental value. [Collecting watches] is also about making smart investments," says the Korea-based artiste.

“I focus on the design and uniqueness. I look for watches that double as accessories, suitable for daily wear, work, or special occasions. I also collect exclusive and limited edition watches but not a lot!" laughs BamBam, who shot to fame as a member of the K-pop group, Got7.

BamBam picks his three favorite watches. “The first one has to be Jacob & Co Astronomia Solar Zodiac Jewelry Planets.” A limited edition of just 101 pieces worldwide, it has a unique and captivating design, replicating the solar system on the dial with a variety of gemstones such as amethysts, sapphires, peridots, rhodonite, and red jasper to represent the celestial bodies.

The complex mechanism features a rotating platform with three arms carrying the time display, the tourbillon, and the magnesium globe painted blue to represent the Earth. A second rotating platform is in the form of the Aventurine Skylayer, serving as a spectacular backdrop for the planets.

"The next watch is the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Steel - Diamond Custom,” says BamBam. This timepiece has been spotted on his wrist since 2017, and it’s blinged out in diamonds.

His third favourite watch is also a flashy option, the Patek Philippe Nautilus Ref. 5719. “I simply adore watches that catch and reflect light.” Indeed, the watch is adorned with 1,343 diamonds from case to bracelet.

BamBam's daily schedule is packed with rehearsals, promotions, and public appearances. If he could design a watch, what would be his preferred time format?

"I'd like to shorten the duration of time. I wish a day only had 12 hours—six hours to work and six hours to rest,” says BamBam. “This would compel us to refine each task to enhance its efficiency.”

What if he had an extra hour a day? What would he use the time for? "It depends on the day. If I'm working, I'd use the extra hour to be more productive. But if I'm resting, I'd fully utilise it for relaxation."

What is his philosophy on time? “Time is precious; you cannot turn back time. Make every day, every minute, count. The past has passed, and the future is yet to come so do our best to be in the present.”
