Rihanna Joins Forces With LVMH To Launch 'Fenty Maison' Fashion Line
The Fenty beauty mogul hit headlines earlier this year as rumours spread about a possible Fenty fashion line. After months of speculation, it’s finally official! Earlier this week, luxury French fashion conglomerate LVMH formally announced the partnership. Chairman and CEO of LVMH, Bernard Arnault, revealed that the line, known as Maison Fenty, will lie under the creative direction of Robyn Rihanna Fenty. The collection, which is set to debut on May 22, will include ready-to-wear, shoes and accessories.
“Everybody knows Rihanna as a wonderful singer, but through our partnership at Fenty Beauty, I discovered a true entrepreneur, a real CEO, and a terrific leader. She naturally finds her full place within LVMH. To support Rihanna to start up the Fenty Maison, we have built a talented and multicultural team supported by the Group resources. I am proud that LVMH is leading this venture and wish it will be a great success.”
Fenty Maison will make Rihanna the first woman of colour to lead a luxury fashion house. She said in a statement: “Designing a line like this with LVMH is an incredibly special moment for us. Mr Arnault has given me a unique opportunity to develop a fashion house in the luxury sector, with no artistic limits. I couldn’t imagine a better partner both creatively and business-wise, and I’m ready for the world to see what we have built together.”
Rihanna started working with LVMH in 2017, launching her renowned cosmetics brand, Fenty Beauty. Famed for its inclusive 40 shades of foundation, Fenty Beauty has gone on to break boundaries and redefine the beauty industry.
The Fenty Maison venture is also not the star’s first foray into fashion. In 2014, Rihanna collaborated with German sportswear brand, Puma. She stood as creative director and global ambassador for the label until 2018. In May 2018, the star debuted a ground-breaking, all-inclusive and celebratory lingerie line known as Savage x Fenty. The collection featured trans women, women of colour, disabled women, pregnant women, queer women and women sizes 22, 24, 26 and beyond.
It is without a doubt that the world will be sent into a Fenty frenzy when the Maison debut’s their line this spring.
