For their 125th Anniversary, Omega introduces the ‘De Ville Trésor’ model

Whilst the brand resides in the pantheon of luxury accessories, Omega’s roots as a quality watchmaker have humble beginnings. Established in 1848 in a small workshop in the Swiss City of La-de-Fords, the then ‘Louis Brandt and Frère’ was far from the household name it is now. With a distinct passion for accuracy and quality, founder Louis Brandt made a name for himself far beyond his small workshop.

It was in 1894, 15 years after Brandt’s death, when the family business of beautifully made and enduring timepieces reached a pivotal turning point. Inspired by their father’s watchmaking excellence, Brandt’s two sons released the iconic 19-ligne calibre model.

Manufactured using revolutionary new methods, the 19-ligne calibre set a new standard within the industry. It was one of the very first Swiss watch movements that was produced through an industrialised process and designed with completely interchangeable components. 'Louis Brandt and Frère’ was christened ‘Omega’—the last letter of the Greek alphabet, symbolising ultimate accomplishment. They considered themselves to be the “final word” on watchmaking success.

In  honour of the brand’s 125-year milestone, the De Ville Trésor 125th Anniversary edition watch is now available for purchase. The model is a tribute to the 1894 caliber watch movement and is Omega’s first watch with a manual-winding Master Chronometer. Featuring an 18k yellow gold medallion, it also the brand’s first wristwatch with a red enamel dial.
