Maewkhoo Launches Hellish Fashion Collection 'Fruit Of The Doomed'

Earlier this month, the cool kids of high society populated FV BKK on Song Wat Road in Chinatown to see Maewkhoo's latest creations. Previously known as Half Caste Creations, Maewkhoo is a multi-disciplinary studio known for its work in architecture and interior design, and now, for the first time ever, the two behind the brand, Dennis Karlsson and Yann Kennedy have launched an exclusive collection of clothing, titled Fruit of the Doomed.
The materials used in the collection is anything but cheap or low quality. Made with silk and cotton blends and patterns hand-drawn by traditional temple mural artists, the line embodies individuality through a mixture of traditional Thai arts and a rebellious, tongue-in-cheek attitude. Showcasing and weaving the clothing together with its narrative, Dennis and Yann made a short film for the collection's launch. A social satire, Fruit of the Doomed, the film, is a humorous piece featuring strong personas such as Korakrit Arunanodchai, Srei Vacharaphol and Dhanut Tungsuwan. In a nutshell, the message of the project is a gentle reminder of how many of us are going to hell because of our over-indulgent lifestyles.
Parodying gangster films and silent films as well, the film allows audiences to see the designs in use and in action, including novel objects like the stunning gold python boots, created in collaboration with footwear label Rich Cast of Characters, and rich accessories crafted by Hua Seng Heng goldsmith. In addition to wearable items, the film also highlighted the line's golden toothpicks and flaming Thai bencharong porcelain set, all of which are available for purchase at FV BKK.
