How To Get Meghan Markle’s Best Summer Looks
Both on her days in the castle and out, HRH The Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle has remained consistent in her style. From her casual shirt-and-shorts combos to her dressier ensembles, she has infallibly given us a lesson on sophisticated chic.
This summer, her sartorial taste has only projected upwards—from her first engagement at the Royal Garden Party, to her first solo outing with the Queen in yet another Givenchy number.
We've rounded up some of her most head-turning summer looks and how you can steal them in the gallery below:
1. Denim days
At the Sentebale ISPS Handa Polo Cup, Meghan Markle wore a classy Carolina Herrera midi denim dress in deep indigo tones, that accentuated the waist with a '50s throwback flaring skirt.
The choice was a fit with the breezy weather and she kept it laidback with Tom Ford sunglasses, nude pumps by Aquazzura and of course, what is a summer look without a straw accessory? She finished the outfit with a basket refined clutch by J.Crew.
2. Wedding season
Meghan opted for cooler tones in a flowy floral maxi by Oscar De La Renta, along with a Marks & Spencer fascinator for Princess Diana’s niece’s wedding.
She kept the look clean and simple with stunning white heels and—although opinions remain divided over the choice—a floor-length frock that paid homage to her husband’s late mother, who wore a similar-patterned tunic during her 1986 visit to Saudi Arabia. Meghan sparkled with Prince Harry’s gift of Princess Diana’s aquamarine ring.
Green never looked so good. Once again, Meghan manages to play artfully with colour, this time going for her heavily-talked-about emerald Self Portrait dress. The frills and pleats of her frock add an element of femininity to her otherwise black outfit, lending a with a pop of vitality from the shamrock green, decidedly in harmony with the floral details.
4. Effortless mode
The outfit turned heads the effortless direction the Duchess went for, the pinstripe and button-up details are trendy yet modish and she jazzed up the look with an elegant blazer, whilst keeping an almost-monochrome palette—if it wasn’t for the refreshing stripes of yellow. Meghan’s accessory picks continued the theme of stripes for a consistent and polished ensemble, her summer style is one to look out for.
5. Nautical classic
Supporting her friend Serena Williams, Meghan Markle attended the Wimbledon tournament with sister-in-law, HRH The Duchess of Cambridge, sporting a nautical look. Her all-Ralph Lauren attire is just as classy as it is modern. The Duchess wore a navy blue and white striped shirt, tucked into pearl-white wide legged pants and completing the look with a Maison Michel white hat to top off the Wimbledon-White look.
6. Keeping It Neutral
When the Duchess met the late Nelson Mandela’s granddaughter at his Centenary Exhibition, she stood out in a neutral palette wearing a sleeveless, double-breasted trench dress, harkening back to her Toronto days with this refined House of Nonie piece paired with a blush bag and pumps, taking a minimalistic yet classy stand.
7. Minimal Chic
The boatneck of Meghan’s sleek, vibrant yellow Brandon Maxwell dress was evocative of her iconic Givenchy wedding gown. Some have suggested that this flamboyant number might have been a symbol of optimism and happiness at the Commonwealth Youth Challenge Reception, true or false, one thing is certain: the new royal wardrobe is very becoming of the young Duchess.
