As part of his prize, the Japanese designer will be mentored by experts under the luxury giant for a year
Satoshi Kuwata is the winner of the 2023 LVMH Prize for Young Designer, and attended an award ceremony at the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris yesterday where he was presented his award by Wonder Woman (2017) actress Gal Gadot.
The 39-year-old founded genderless brand Setchu in 2020, which features functional designs that take inspiration from classic objects and a fusion of Japanese and Western concepts.
“I am delighted to honour [Kuwata] whose designs blend great tailoring and elegance, producing collections that are both streamlined and exquisitely cut,” said Delphine Arnault, CEO of Christian Dior Couture and a member of the LVMH board of directors in a press release.
