Han Chong's SP Collection has acquired French label Roland Mouret as part of his effort to "discover, nurture and develop best in class creativity and design." Mouret himself will continue to play a major role as founder and creative chair.

Penang-born Chong said in a release: “I am very honoured to have the chance to take this luxury brand on the next stage of its journey. As part of SP Collection, Roland Mouret will benefit from the infrastructure and resources necessary to ensure it can flourish in the coming years. The Roland Mouret brand already has a powerful and respected legacy and I’m excited to see how we can develop it for luxury customers around the world. I am also delighted that Roland himself will be a part of this next chapter.”

Chong's Self-Portrait womenswear label is a huge global success with stores in London and across Asia, and is a favourite amongst celebrities.

When asked about the newly established SP Collection, Chong reveals that it is aimed at allowing brands and designers to flourish. The London-based designer credits the city he works in for inspiring this idea. "I've had a longtime infatuation with London's electrifying creativity, with the city ultimately becoming the backdrop for me to start my own label because it encourages brilliant design and allowed designers to dream."

As for Mouret himself, he is excited about what the future holds. “I have been so impressed by Han’s passion for the Roland Mouret brand and where he feels it can go next. Naturally I am also very happy to be a part of the journey that will allow me to continue celebrating women in all their beautiful guises for years to come.”
