From braid crowns to pops of colour

1. Bold l\Lips

A soft, pink pout may be a universal bridal favourite, but a bold lip juxtaposed against a radiant, nude complexion is the perfect statement. And we’re not just talking about reds—try orange lips for a fun, eye-catching look or sensual dark, berry hues.

2. Bejewelled Headbands

Ditch the tiara for a regal headband to make a glamorous statement. From sparkly headpieces gilded in gold to padded velvet bands encrusted with jewels and pearls, we love how versatile this trend is—wear it with a chignon updo for a classic Audrey Hepburn-inspired look, or style it with loose curls for a preppy vibe that even Blair Waldorf would approve. This look was seen on the autumn 2020 runways at Lela Rose, Berta, and Inbal Dror.

3. Keep It Natural

Let your hair down in gently tousled waves for a natural and elegant look. For autumn 2020, Oscar de la Renta, Inbal Dror and Pronovias x Kleinfeld styled their models with loose, free-flowing locks. There’s major celebrity cred to back up this trend too—Ellie Goulding, Rose Leslie, and Gwyneth Paltrow are some of the famous brides who opted for naturally tousled tresses in recent years.

4. A Pop Of Colour

Most brides tend to favour a natural, neutral palette for their eyes on their big day, but that may be about to change as modern women become more experimental with colours. At the Ines Di Santo spring 2020 show, models were sent down the aisle with their lids painted with coral pinks, pale blues, and rose gold. And at the autumn 2020 show, designers went for subtly unconventional looks like white eyeliner at Laure de Sagazan, and green shadows at Honor Nyc.

5. Flower Power

Not only are florals a huge trend for wedding dresses in autumn 2020, they’ll also be making a prominent appearance on the crowns of next year’s brides. While flower crowns aren’t exactly a new trend, designers went over-the-top on the autumn 2020 runways with blooms artistically arranged at Marchesa and Anne Barge, as well as vibrant flowers at Willowby by Watters and Theia.

6. Crowning Braids

Game of Thrones may have concluded this year, but the effect of the "mother of dragons", Daenerys Targaryen is still very much alive. Braids in various styles were spotted during the autumn 2020 Bridal Fashion Week, with braids worn loosely at Gala by Galia Lahav and Costarellos, and styled with half-up-half-down hairstyles at Marchesa and Theia. Ines Di Santo crowned its models with full milkmaid braids.
