Breguet Highlights Two New Watches, For Him And For Her
Luxurious Swiss-based watch brand Breguet released eleven models for its novelties 2019 this past May, and we picked two highlights, each with a story of its own. The Classique Tourbillon Extra-Plat Squelette 5395 has been reconstructed from its predecessor, shedding 50 per cent of the materials used, resulting in a skeleton only three millimetres thick. The Reine de Naples, or the Queen of Naples women's watch, was also given a makeover recently with the latest 8918 edition. Read on to find out what is special about the two new timepieces.
Classique Tourbillon Extra-Plat Squelette 5395
The Classique Tourbillon Extra-Plat Squelette 5395, which follows the Classique Tourbillon Extra-Thin Automatic 5377, takes on a very different look from all its predecessors. With half of the materials essentially removed, the skeletonised model boasts a case of only three millimetres thin. Visibly, what makes the timepiece so enticing are the sapphire crystals on the front and back exposing the naked 581 calibre with gears arranged so intricately. With the tourbillon at 5 o'clock and an alluring space towards the left, the movement is arranged like a constellation with ruby bolts speckled across. Roman numerals in semi-opaque sapphire encircle the inner circumference of the watch, and you can have the timepiece in 18k pink gold or 950 platinum.
Reine de Naples 8918
The latest version of Caroline Bonaparte's Breguet wristwatch, the Reine de Naples 8918, brings in a touch of red to the famously oblong-faced watch. The intense crimson appears on the iconic warped Arabic numerals as well as the posh alligator leather strap. The case is ribboned with 117 brilliant-cut diamonds and white gold bezel, giving the dial an expensive charm. Other charms to notice about the feminine watch include the pear-shaped diamond in place of 6 o’clock. At 4 o’clock is another red accent: a delicious cabochon-cut ruby bezel.
