Has Baby Sussex already arrived?

The end of April is approaching—and that means Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal baby could arrive any day now.

On an official visit to Birkenhead, Mersyside in January, the Duchess of Sussex revealed to a local woman that she was six months pregnant, which puts her due date at the end of April or beginning of May.

Amidst the frenzy for royal baby news, the Buckingham Palace released a statement this month that Harry and Meghan have “made the personal decision” to keep the details of their baby’s arrival private, opting not to follow the tradition of posing for a large-scale photo call after birth as Prince William and Kate Middleton have done for their three children. Instead, they will share the news “once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately,” though there will be an announcement when Meghan has gone into labour and after she has given birth.

However, royal baby watchers are entertaining the idea that the royal family has already welcomed their new addition. These are the clues:

1. Doria Ragland has arrived in London

It was reported yesterday that Meghan Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland has flown to the United Kingdom from California, and is residing at the Sussexes’ Frogmore Cottage. According to Vanity Fair’s sources, Harry and Meghan “do not plan to hire a nanny or nurse initially, and will instead rely on the help of Meghan’s mother”. The former social worker was even spotted last year with specialist ‘nanny’ coaches in Los Angeles, so it makes sense that she will be present for the arrival of her grandchild.

2. Prince Charles and Camilla have announced their next royal tour

The Clarence House announced just last week that the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall will be visiting Germany from May 7 to 10 at the request of the British Government to “celebrate the UK-Germany relationship”. The grandfather of three had previously expressed his excitement for another grandchild, so it’s highly likely that he would want to be meet the new baby before he jets off. Would that mean Meghan’s due date is before May 7?

3. Meghan’s makeup artist and long-time friend is also in town

New York-based makeup artist Daniel Martin—who was responsible for Meghan’s glowing look at her wedding—has been spotted in London since early this month, leading many to speculate that he is in town to work with the Duchess for her postpartum portraits. This is fueled by the makeup guru’s Instagram post, announcing that he will be a guest at The Makeup Show in New York on May 5, clueing royal fans in that the due date could be before then.

4. The royal couple signed off an Instagram post with Baby Sussex

Meghan has not made a public appearance since March 19, but the couple’s newly-created Instagram account has remained active, keeping fans updated with the Sussexes’ causes and tours. Following a virtual #globalsussexbabyshower which encouraged members of the public “to make donations to select charities for children and parents in need” instead of gifts, a thank-you post was made last week to detail the impact it has made to the various organisations. Fans noticed an interesting detail—that the post was signed off on behalf of The Duke and Duchess, as well as Baby Sussex.

Could the royal baby have already been born? With no official announcement, we can only wait for Harry and Meghan to reveal the news in their own terms.
