As the Asia Tatler Sustainability Forum at Soneva Kiri brought together 16 passionate business leaders across Asia to find solutions towards a more sustainability and eco-friendly future, one of the most profound takeaways of the summit was each delegate's personal pledge to do their part and lead each of their tremendous followings through example.

A member of Thailand's famed Sukosol family and the executive vice-president of Sukosol Hotels, Marisa Sukosol Nunbhakdi, pledges to reduce 20 per cent of single-use plastics in 20 of her hotels by 2020.
For Busaba Chirathivat, executive vice-president of corporate communications at Central Group, moving towards a sustainabile future is about creating new habits and attitudes. She would like to be the lead example of reducing and reusing packaging in the retail industry.
Founder of Central Weddings and co-founder of EcoDrive Hong Kong, Yolanda Choy-Tang is on a mission to educate people on the devastating long-term effects of single-use plastic, while encouraging them to make small everyday changes to ensure a greener future.

William Davies, head of sustainability at Swire Beverages, the world’s fifth-largest bottler of Coca-Cola, promises that by 2025, 100 per cent of Swire Beverages' packaging will be recyclable. Since the forum, Swire Beverages has announced its partnership with Alba Group Asia and Baguio Waste Management and Recycling to open a new plant in 2020 that can recycle all PET and HDPE plastics used in the city.
Representing Singapore at the forum, Clara Goh, Fendi's marketing and communications director for Southeast Asia and Australia, believes in the good of people but recognises the challenge with matching intentions with know-how and actionable solutions. This year, she wants to start a platform to help make solutions for sustainability more accessible to people who are willing to change.
Couple Daryl Foong and Melissa Lam, who collectively manage Aquawalk aquarium and Senja Aman properties in Malaysia, pledge to make their places of business completely plastic-free by the end of 2019. “We are fighting to keep our oceans clean for our children and for the generations to come.”
This highly influential couple has been paving the way to a plastic-free future, starting with Princess Zatashah’s #sayno2plastic campaign, which went viral in Malaysia early last year. Aubry Rahim Mennesson, who is Malaysia’s Cold Stone Creamery executive director, pledges to reduce single-use plastic in both his personal life and in his businesses.
GoalBlue’s May makes a bold promise to work with 5,000 restaurants in Beijing and Shanghai to reduce their use of plastic and red meat. The production of meat is a major contributor to greenhouse gases and uses up excessive resources in its process.
Philippine pearl farmers Jacques Christophe Branellec and Mia Arcenas-Branellec are passionate about educating the Philippines' youth on simple ways to protect the oceans, so that they may be continue to be enjoyed for generations to come.
