Behind The Scenes: What's It Like To Be A Mouawad With Jimmy Mouawad
Laid-back in casual attire and looking younger than his 23 years, Jimmy Mouawad, the latest generation to join the historic and famous family gem and jewellery business, might have been forgiven for being a little reserved as he greeted the Tatler team politely in Thai—this being the tyro entrepreneur’s first big solo photoshoot and magazine interview in Thailand, where he was born. However, as he settled in to the inviting surroundings of Decanter, the St Regis Bangkok’s sophisticated bar, and plush lobby, he relaxed and began to enjoy the process, popping off occasionally to change outfits—some his own and some brought along by our stylist. In fact, the innate confidence of Jimmy’s international education and upbringing, which stand him in good stead in his role at the helm of the Mouawad Diamond Impact Fund, came to the fore and the young man took to being in front of the camera with aplomb. Looking every bit the upcoming international man of mystery in a natty tuxedo, and sporting watches and jewelled accessories made by the family firm, he caught on to what was required as if he’d been modelling all his life. The day wasn’t wrapped up until early evening following a wide-ranging interview in the St Regis’ beautifully-appointed Royal Suite.
