WHY GO? The main dining room at Zazen is set like an Oriental palace on the sea. Exotic menus are created using organic meats and vegetables mixed with herbs and spices known to promote good health.

WHAT TO ORDER? Chef Trakulsak Yaoyuan has developed a healthy cuisine at Zazen. He prefers to cook with organic vegetables and gluten free rice. He offers a variety of tasting menus covering the range of flavours within Thai cuisine. Two Discovery menus allow the choice between meat and seafood options. A special lobster selection features freshly made Canadian lobster ravioli cooked with pan-fried foie gras with a light tamarind sauce. The international menu is divided between Earth and Ocean entrees that are beautifully expressed. They include pan-fried veal tenderloin fillets topped with succulent poached scallops and joined by linguine with lobster sauce, sauteed vegetables and veal jus. Be sure to leave room for dessert, of which there are many wonderful choices. A winner is Zazen’s Symphony, a boutique collection of lemongrass creme brulee, tiramisu, mini chocolate fondant, white ivory mousse, mango coconut dome and mixed macaron. Sweet bliss!

Drinks Reported to have the largest selection of wine on Koh Samui stored in the only underground wine cellar on the island. A choice of 300 labels from 18 countries.
