WHY GO? This traditional Chinese restaurant is found in a centrally located modern hotel. The restaurant is classically furnished and offers up excellent value dim sum and an extensive a la carte menu of Cantonese dishes.
WHAT TO ORDER? Dim sum is a good beginning here, with a comprehensive offering of classics. The selection includes the plump prawn dumplings, tender and juicy crispy pork, and sea bass in black bean sauce. All are truly authentic in terms of presentation and flavour. The soups are also well worth trying, in particular a well-balanced Sichuan-style hot and sour soup with familiar piquant flavours. The a la carte menu has a comprehensive section devoted to roast duck, barbecue pork and whole suckling pig, available in a variety of different preparations. There are also an equally tempting number of seafood dishes including abalone, river prawns and the ever-popular choice of Hokkaido scallops sauteed and accompanied by a punchy XO sauce. Recommended desserts include the salty egg custard buns and a more classic deep-fried red date pancake. They are a fitting end to an enjoyable meal.
Drinks The drink list includes a short selection of wines with several available by the glass, local beers, freshly squeezed juices and Chinese teas.
