WHY GO? Located in a two-story wooden residential home, Sorn has a view of the kitchen where owner chef Supaksorn Jongsiri and his team prepare traditional southern Thai cuisine. Advance reservations are a must for this 20-seat restaurant.

WHAT TO ORDER? The southern Thai food menu explains the origin of each dish and its ingredients, which are prepared using traditional southern techniques and focus on firey tastes. The meal begins with a dish of young mangosteen with crispy krill, shallots and coconut palm sugar, followed by eight individual servings consisting of shrimp, raw Phuket lobster, morsels of grouper, a salad of squid, crab with its roe, grilled chicken and roti crab curry. A vegetable dish of khao yam is a meeting of the forest and sea, served with turmeric rice and a flavourful fermented fish dressing. Main courses of contrasting flavours are served samrab-style and for sharing and included yellow curry with gaew gu fish and mangosteen, a southern favourite of sator (stinky beans) with mantis shrimps and grilled crispy pork with chilli paste. The meal ends with a ginger sorbet palate cleanser and Thai sweets and petit fours.

Drinks A small selection of wines and beers is available. The restaurant also offers ale, wine and other alcoholic beverage pairings with its set menus.
