WHY GO? Great Cantonese food, especially the all you-can-eat dim sum on weekdays. You’ll need time to scrutinise the lengthy illustrated menu. Stray beyond your usual favourites because this is the place to experiment with new dishes.
WHAT TO ORDER? Peking duck is crafted in a familiar, traditional fashion and expertly carved at your table so you can sample the finely roasted skin in pancake wraps with plum sauce and slices of cucumber and scallions while the kitchen prepares the meat according to your preference. Buddha jumps over the wall is an enriching soup of soft pork, sea cucumber, abalone, mushrooms and ginger. Stuffed sugar snap peas with Ghana pickle is a bountiful plate of long green pods heavily sprinkled with beans, minced carrot, mushroom, pickle and other zesty ingredients. A dessert of chilled mango pudding is enjoyable but you might want to be more daring and try sweetened hot almond cream and ginkgo nuts with egg white.
Drinks Reds, whites, champagne, whisky, martinis, mai tai and other cocktails and spirits crowd a long list. Includes Chinese and Japanese drinks plus Thailand’s Mekhong whisky.
