WHY GO? Authentic heirloom Thai recipes are served up family style in a truly luxe environment. Comfortable bay sofas look out over a discreetly elegant dining room, the walls hung with period pictures and photographs of old Bangkok street scenes.
WHAT TO ORDER? Whilst an extensive a la carte menu is offered, to experience signature dishes choose a set menu offering smaller portions. Begin with an exquisite platter including a tasty fried chicken dumpling, a refreshing scallop salad and a spicy miang kham betel leaf wrapping of dried shrimp and crunchy peanut. This is followed by the traditional tom yum goong, which has a perfect balance of sweet and sour flavours to go with the juicy and tender river prawn. Great main courses include melt-in- the-mouth beef with a spicy northeastern dip, and a just-cooked snowfish glistening in a rich red curry sauce. Other signatures worth trying are a pomelo and prawn salad that explodes with flavours and a memorable yellow curry of pork with an oddly pleasant, slightly bitter chilli after taste. Desserts include the house specialty of sweet mung beans meticulously presented in fruit shapes.
Drinks Both New and Old World wines are represented on a carefully curated list, including an intelligently chosen selection available by the glass to pair with exotic Thai flavours.
