WHY GO? This is a secret gem, an elegantly furnished new restaurant quietly serving spectacular meals inspired by old-style Thai recipes. Its huge windows are lapped by the Chao Phraya River and give a gorgeous view of Wat Arun. Rooftop garden dining is even more sensual.
WHAT TO ORDER? To start try the signature watermelon and aromatic crispy snakehead fish, a three-level pyramid of watermelon blocks dressed with dry shredded fish, coconut sugar and fried shallots. Morning glory tempura salad is big and crispy in a bamboo basket, with optional slightly sweet coconut tamarind dressing. The signature green curry with New Zealand rib-eye comes with roti flatbread to soak up the lovely sauce. This dish can be ordered with beef or chicken. Pad phak whan is plentiful fried vegetable shot-through with scrambled egg and garlic. The signature Rongos fried rice with salted egg and grilled prawns is magnificent, with three substantial prawns served next to a generous scoop of fried rice made as spicy as you desire. Enjoy it with a side of lotus roots, cucumber and salted egg. End the meal with some Thai desserts, of which there is a small selection.
Drinks Cocktails, both creatively imagined and traditional classics, plus beer, a handful of white and red wines and some champagne.
