WHY GO? Chef Philippe Peretti’s restaurant has stood the test of time over 20 years and remains one of Bangkok’s favourites for classic French cuisine. A traditional but welcoming setting and excellent service always make an evening here a pleasurable experience.

WHAT TO ORDER? Begin with the French classic of plump escargots in an aromatic garlic sauce. Soft and rich, the snails are a great way to kick-start the appetite. Another option for a toothsome opening is the signature duck liver pasta. Its smooth and velvety filling pairs perfectly with the accompanying mushroom cream sauce topped with shaved truffle. For the mains, roasted tenderloin with black pepper and mustard seed sauce will not fail to impress. The tender meat is well-seasoned and the seared exterior is the perfect vehicle for the flavoursome black pepper sauce. For a lighter option, pan-fried Brittany sole is cooked to perfection. Although light and delicate in nature, the fish is well complemented by a calvados and mushroom cream sauce. End with the traditional dessert of raspberry millefeuille. The refreshing note of the raspberry balances well with the heavier cream while the pastry puff layers add texture.

Drinks While the list offers wines from the New World, Philippe’s exceptional selection is notable for its wide range of French labels, particularly from the Bordeaux region.
