Review
WHY GO? This elegantly furnished restaurant affords diners spectacular Bangkok views whilst dining on incredibly authentic Chinese cuisine covering recipes from both the north and south of the country.
WHAT TO ORDER? Begin with some of the innovative dim sum, which includes xiao long bao filled with delicate blue crab and fragrant truffle or a more traditional pork and spring onion pot sticker. Follow this with one of Chinese chef Matthew Geng’s signature dishes, which include a stylishly presented signature crispy squirrel fish in a perfectly balanced sweet and sour sauce, and a tasty lobster mapo tofu with kurobuta pork. Unique side dishes include a stellar potato offering with rice vinegar and chilli. The star of the show however is peking duck expertly carved at table and served with accompaniments. Other specialties are the hand-pulled noodles, which come with a wide variety of options including wagyu beef broth and sichuan stewed pork. Modern interpretations include wagyu tenderloin cubes stir-fried with chunks of foie gras and a sublime black pepper sauce. End with the delightful jasmine tea-scented creme brulee.
Drinks A superb international wine list has varietals aplenty with several available by the glass. There are also innovative Asianthemed cocktails and a superior range of Chinese teas, both of which complement the cuisine.
