Review

WHY GO? Where possible executive chef Ryan Dunn and his capable team stick by their “healthy and locally” concept when sourcing ingredients. The excellent food, the historical beachfront setting and slick service staff create a great impression.

WHAT TO ORDER? Start the meal with the signature seared scallops served on a bed of cauliflower puree and topped with Thai tomato relish, citrus butter and local herbs. The relish gives the succulent scallops added zing. Locally caught salt and pepper squid is another dish that reflects the freshness of the cuisine. Chilli lime and garlic aioli brings out the best in this starter. A fabulous Darling Downs tenderloin is all you can wish for as a well-seasoned carnivore. Served in a glass bell jar to lock in the delicious vapours, it comes on a base of sauteed Swiss chard and mushrooms and with a choice of cognac peppercorn jus or cafe de paris butter. Another recommended main course is roasted breast of peking duck with Puy lentils, macerated beetroot and radish. There is a compact but beautiful choice of desserts. Try McFarland sticky toffee pudding with candied walnuts, warm caramel sauce and banana ice cream and a touch of mascarpone.

Drinks A compact but successful wine list. Truly impressive are the extraordinary Thai-inspired cocktails made to house recipes.
