WHY GO? Headed by master chef Andy Chan with over 30 years of experience in acclaimed restaurants both in China and Thailand, Liu is a finely decorated teahouse serving a wide selection of Cantonese favourites.

WHAT TO ORDER? Start with something refreshing such as fried prawns with mixed fruit topped with cream salad. The prawn’s texture is prefect and the dish has a sweetness that comes from the diced fruits and not the cream. An alternative opening is crispy glass prawns served with oyster sauce and shrimp paste. Steamed egg topped with assorted seafood is worth a try for a main course but the chef recommends stewed pork belly with black soy sauce served with mantou bun. Melting in the mouth, the buttery flesh goes perfectly well with the white steamed bread. A dish of barbecued crispy pork is also very popular with regular diners. End the meal with the traditional sesame balls in ginger tea or something equally refreshing such as mango pudding with cool fruit bits and cream.

Drinks The restaurant boasts a long list of teas from different parts of China and the rest of the world. Classic cocktails, spirits and wines are also available, the latter a mix of Old and New World labels plus some from local wineries.
