WHY GO? If you love panoramic views, Koi’s 39th floor windows reveal a spectacular urban landscape, especially at sunset when the city begins to light up. Fresh seafood and other Japanese dishes are jazzed up with a casual California accent.

WHAT TO ORDER? A good start is Cajun ceviche, a zesty plate of tuna, white fish, salmon, yellowtail and shrimp lightly bathed with garlic soy dressing. A generous serving, it is ideal for sharing. Various sushi items are available but if you desire a wonderful, slightly sweet, thick chunk of fish, opt for the signature dish of miso bronzed black cod, which arrives resting on baby corn and is accompanied by baby carrots and greens. Another seriously good dish is grilled New Zealand lamb chops dressed with a scattering of pale sesame seeds and accompanied by quinoa. Served with a peppery ichimi sauce, the tender chops are cooked to a perfect pink blush. One of the best desserts is Koi’s gorgeous cheesecake, its cream cheese frosting draped with raspberries in a red gel, all smothering a chocolate cake and short bread mix.

Drinks A wide range of spirits and cocktails plus a good spectrum of international wines, some of which are offered by the glass. Prices begin modestly and rise if you opt for champagne or aged Japanese whisky.
