WHY GO? Connoisseurs will be impressed with Kintsugi Bangkok by Jeff Ramsey, one of the finest Japanese restaurants in Bangkok. For novices, the chef patiently describes each plate’s ingredients. On set menus, you can substitute other items if, for example, you don’t eat shellfish.

WHAT TO ORDER? A la carte choices are available but the easiest way to dine is by selecting a set menu and experience the opulence of its listed items. Ito, Kin and Omakase—three different set menus—expand the choices on offer. Kin includes fabulous and indescribably delicious combinations meticulously made with eel and fresh fish, roasted prime wagyu beef, eggplant and other vegetables, mushrooms, walnuts, japanese peppers and diverse seasonal fresh ingredients. Some require the chef to dramatically blast the food with a blowtorch to heat and meld the flavours. Kintsugi’s signature nagano walnut soba is available and its swirl of cold buckwheat noodles expertly blends herbs, root and seeds. Also included is a dessert of melon with Riesling jelly. The flavour bursts are amazing here and you leave knowing you have enjoyed something quite exceptional.

Drinks The Athenee’s large wine selection is available to the restaurant, providing a profusion of high-quality international labels. Some are available by the glass.
