WHY GO? This is a cheerful, well-lit, modern, airy, family-friendly restaurant serving some of the best Thai food in town. Recipes skew toward high-society Thai dishes and are subtly flavoured instead of the usual strong-biting spicy heat.

WHAT TO ORDER? Deep-fried prawn and squid cake is a good way to start the meal. Spicy sea bass larb salad with makwaen seeds is very enjoyable. It has a piquant bouquet of nicely diced pieces of fresh fish mixed with cucumber and lettuce. Meang pla-too is equally delicious and combines fish with onions and other tangy treats. Namprik makua por is a very satisfying Thai cultural delight featuring a bowl of not-too-spicy dipping sauce next to a whole mackerel, a hard-boiled egg, cucumbers and other greens. Duck sauce makarm gets serious with lots of roasted meat glazed with a sweet lime tamarind sauce that is a delight to eat. A dessert of either black grass jelly pearls in syrup or ruby waterchestnuts in sweet coconut milk cools everything down because these two cold bowls feature shaved ice, perfect on a hot day.
