WHY GO? The Clubhouse at Kata Rocks overlooks an elegant infinity pool and the beach and Andaman Sea beyond. The menu is balanced between Barcelona chef Laia Pons’ Spanish-Mediterranean cuisine and well-loved Thai specialties.

WHAT TO ORDER? Fortunately the menu is not too large, which allows guests to choose from a considered collection of Thai and Western dishes. Most internationally favourite Thai dishes are offered, such as a sour and spicy tom yum kung, but choose a Phuket favourite such as moo hong, slow-cooked pork belly with five spices, soy, sugar and cinnamon, or local king prawns tossed with fresh tamarind sauce, pineapple, kaffir lime and a dash of salmon roe. Pons balances the Thai tastes with outstanding offers that include salt crusted branzino, a succulent sea bass baked in an egg white and salt crust that is opened at the table. Australian lamb rack is large and succulent, enhanced with mojo sauce and lemon herb gremolata. For a taste of coastal Spain, don’t pass on the signature Barceloneta seafood rice with shrimps, calamari, mussels and saffron.

Drinks Try one of the signature cocktails designed to give guests that Kata Rocks feeling of luxury. A glass of Kick in the Rocks gets one in the mood.
