WHY GO? This outpost of elegant French dining by award-winning chef Jean-Michel Lorain is jointly presided over by manager Marine Lorain and chef Amerigo Sesti. The contemporary furnishings create a stylish ambience in which modern French cuisine is perfectly executed and efficiently served.
WHAT TO ORDER? Begin with the signature appetiser of scallop and sea urchin tartare. The dish is a picture on the plate, scattered with lightly pickled chanterelle mushrooms, slivers of cauliflower and finished with generous shavings of truffle that add an earthiness to the flavours of the sea. Alternatively try pan-seared foie gras dressed with a piquant citrus and fish sauce with a hint of tomato. Follow this with panseared Japanese kamui beef fillet served with a black garlic foam and slightly crisp sauteed potatoes with smoky paprika. The combination is very satisfying. There is a good choice of fish dishes but do consider trying the unusual local ostrich fillet with a rich herb jus. Leave room for a decadent dessert, the list of which includes J'Aime's signature of millefeuille napolean, a delightful confection featuring layers of wafer-thin pastry packed with a variety of luscious creams.
Drinks An excellent wine list is accompanied by an equally impressive offering by the glass, all almost exclusively French and containing many tempting gems.
