WHY GO? Enter a truly Japanese universe and be one of only 12 diners at a sitting in this tiny, exquisite, welllit restaurant. Sensationally sensual, opulent meals are prepared in front of you by Japanese chefs for a personalised dining experience.

WHAT TO ORDER? Omakase translates as “I will leave it up to you” and allows the chef to decide what to serve and how to prepare it. Throughout the meal the chef advises on which dipping sauce to use with each item, making this an intimate learning experience, as if you are in Japanese classroom. A yugiri course brings an elaborate appetiser with an array of vegetables, soybean, chicken, persimmon, quail eggs, fish and other treats. In Japanese these individual morsels are called hamabofu and urui soup, hotate, boiled yamaimo, soramame, nanohana, kikuba and sawara saigyo. A slew of tempura pieces include tiger prawn, sea urchin, sea eel, cod and other seafood, plus okra, ginkgo, mushroom, lotus root and eggplant. A sliced radish and carrot with sesame sauce salad completes this magnificent feast.

Drinks Lots of sake, plus a sampling of shochu, champagne, whisky and beer. Two dozen white and red wines, including some by the glass.
