WHY GO? Those with a craving for dumplings won’t be disappointed by this famous international chain. Renowned for its xiao long bao dumplings, Din Tai Fung features an open kitchen at which diners can observe the staff preparing freshly-made treats.
WHAT TO ORDER? Start with the restaurant’s most renowned dish—steamed soup dumplings, or xiao long bao, available with a number of different fillings. Try the classic pork with a savoury warm soup filling that goes well with sliced ginger and soy sauce, or the fancier choice of steamed crab meat and pork dumplings. Steamed shrimp and pork shao mai is also a good alternative for those unused to xiao long bao. No Chinese meal would be complete without a good bowl of soup. Opt for steamed chicken soup, which features juicy and tender steamed chicken in a light broth. For something more substantial, the signature fried rice with shrimps and eggs will do the trick. Unlike the heavily seasoned Thai fried rice, Din Tai Fung’s version of the dish carries a lighter flavour that showcases the natural sweetness of the plump, succulent prawns. For dessert try a classic serving of mango pudding.
Drinks The drink list features a variety of hot and cold Chinese teas as well as fresh fruit juices and herbal drinks. Other light beverages include beers.
