WHY GO? Cocotte specialises in juicy steaks hot off the grill. It has a relaxed atmosphere in which to enjoy hearty fare prepared with French culinary elan and served with friendly efficiency.

WHAT TO ORDER? Open with a starter of smoked beef and creamy burrata with cherry tomato jam and a black mustard, smoked olive oil and balsamic dressing. Also good is crab and avocado with butterhead lettuce and Hokkaido crab meat. It has a very refreshing mango lemon dressing. For mains, two or more could share an Australian wagyu tomahawk, which is available in cuts ranging from 1.4kgs to 2kgs, but for a more manageable individual steak try the Australian black angus 270-day grain-fed tenderloin. It arrives cooked to a succulent tenderness and goes perfectly with a side order of rich truffle mac and cheese. A lighter option is the signature dish of traditional French camembert cooked in a Kamado Joe barbecue with truffle and served with char-grilled bread and Royal Project truffle green salad. If you have room for dessert, Cocotte’s tiramisu won’t disappoint but also consider the wonderfully light and lemon mint tart with fluffy lemon meringue, limoncello caramel and mint gel.

Drinks A very good wine list of mostly reds with strong representations of both Old and New World producers. Prices range from the very reasonable to the extravagant. A selection of signature cocktails is also available.
