WHY GO? Located amidst a leafy subsoil of Narathiwas 17, Sensi is set in a contemporary art-filled house. Chef Stefano Merlo displays a deft touch with refined Italian dishes. A new area for pizza lovers has recently added to the dolce vita.
WHAT TO ORDER? Sensi has delighted diners for several years. Its current incarnation extends from refined pan-Italian cuisine to more casual yet convivial pizza. The cold cut platter is a riot of san daniele ham, finocchiona salami, coppa, mortadella, speck ham, baby pickles and mixed cheeses. Sensi caprese surprises with cloud-soft buffalo mozzarella espuma, cherry tomato gelatin and a drizzle of basil oil. Vitello tonnato, a Piedmontese favourite, beautifully presents sliced veal escalops in a rich tuna sauce with capers and a garnish of pickled vegetables. Both jerusalem artichoke cream soup with black truffle dumpling and the signature risotto with fresh black truffle highlight the essence of its aromatic alchemy. Australian grain-fed wagyu striploin is matched with truffle potato puree, baby spinach, béarnaise sauce, beef jus and mustard. Finally, lemon km687, referencing the distance the lemons grown in Chiang Mai travel to the table, is a confection of lemon mousse, candied lemon mint and a coating of white chocolate.
Drinks A good list of sparkling, rose, white and red wines mainly from Italy. Some are also available by the glass.
