Review

A contemporary dining space with both modern and vintage decor and an open kitchen. Bampot is a favourite with locals for classic European recipes that offer depth of flavour and finesse.

Chef Jamie Wakeford brings creativity and a unique style of cooking to Bampot, which is innovative and balanced. The regular boutique menu changes entice return visits for the adventure of new tastes. Bampot offers both 'little tastes' and main courses. A little taste that demonstrates the chef’s talent is rib-eye carpaccio with shimeji mushroom, munster cheese and wasabi. A recent menu featured an elegant minced prawn burger seasoned with chilli, lime and green curry paste served on a squid ink steam bun with house pickles and aioli. It delivered a burst of flavours. Another recommendation is baby cucumbers compressed with mirin vinegar and served with local artisanal feta cheese dusted with seaweed powder. For diners who look for beef options, four-week-aged angus rib-eye cooked on the bone and served with peppered rocket and burnt butter hollandaise sauce is worthy of note. Finish on the signature dessert of tapioca and mango rice pudding.

A creative cocktail list features beetpot, a mix of rum, beetroot, vanilla and cinnamon and pashka with Phuket’s own Chalong Bay rum, passion fruit, mint, lime and soda. There is also a decent wine list.
