Enjoy a refeshing glass of bubbling chilled prosecco as an aperitivo while you peruse the menu. As a starter Appia’s famous chicken liver crostini —chicken liver pate on grilled Conkey’s sourdough with Maldon salt—is highly recomemded. Also full of flavor is vitello tonnato, a classic dish of thinly sliced veal with tuna and capers. Next try Pia’s fettuccine based on a recipe from the owner’s mother. The pasta is hand-cut and smothered in a rustic meaty butchershop ragu. Another pasta dish worth trying is rigatoni con ragu di dentice, which is rigatoni pasta tossed in a rich ragu of Mediterranean red snapper. The flavours are redolent of the sea. The signature offering of porchetta, like in Rome, is a tasty combination of roast pork, fennel pollen and tart apple compote. It goes very well with a side dish of broccolini, Italian sausage and potato. End on a classic note with a dessert of pana cotta with fresh raspberries. Although not on the menu, if you ask, you shall receive!
