Born and raised in the coastal city of Miri in Sarawak—better known as an "oil town" and the launch pad to Mulu National Park—Hakken has since become a global phenomenon in the cosplaying community. They were just fascinated with Japanese culture who wanted to dress up as their favourite anime characters after watching videos of Naruto cosplayers on YouTube.

Today, Hakken boasts more than 3.8 million followers on Instagram and 900,000 followers on Twitter. They are known for their meticulous attention to detail when cosplaying characters from cult-favourite anime and manga series, such as Howl’s Moving Castle and Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. Syazwan Majid of Malaysian-based startup Arus Oil wants to stop people from clogging drains with their used cooking oil and reduce Malaysia’s reliance on non-renewable energy sources. Offering an on-demand collection service of used cooking oil to households and businesses, Arus Oil, which has a presence in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Penang, has since gathered over 250 metric tonnes of used cooking oil from more than 4,000 users.
