The Oscar winner has a role in Kenneth Branagh's 'A Haunting in Venice'

Michelle Yeoh is indeed everywhere all at once. Fresh from her Best Actress win at the Oscars, she will next be seen in the Disney+ fantasy series American Born Chinese premiering on May 24, 2023. She's currently busy filming the live-action musical Wicked and it was recently announced that she would be reprising her role as Emperor Phillipa Georgiou in a new Star Trek movie.

And it turns out that she is also part of the ensemble cast of A Haunting in Venice directed by Kenneth Branagh. To be released in cinemas on September 15, 2023, the film is the third Hercule Poirot movie by Branagh, following the successes of Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile. Branagh plays Poirot, and will be joined by Tina Fey, Jamie Dornan, Jude Hill, and Yeoh in A Haunting in Venice.

The trailer dropped yesterday and it appears that the movie contains horror elements, spicing up the murder mystery narrative. The movie is based on Agatha Christie's book titled Hallowe’en Party and is set in Venice on All Hallow's Eve. Yeoh plays the part of Joyce Reynolds; in the book, Reynolds boasts that she once witnessed a murder and is later found dead, an event that launches Poirot into investigative mode.
