The best way to prepare for "Bohemian Rhapsody: A Night of Glam Rock", this year's Tatler Ball, is to put on your headphones and listen to the music created by those who invented the term "glam rock"

Glam rock is a fascinating intersection of fashion and music (glam + rock). The origins of glam rock are in the UK in the '70s with acts such as Queen, David Bowie, Gary Glitter, Mott The Hoople and T.Rex who, interestingly enough, is prescribed as patient zero of this glittery musical and fashion epidemic. Glam rock, of course, quickly spread to the US with artists like New York Dolls, Iggy Pop, The Runaways, KISS and later on, to an extent, Prince. Identifiable traits of glam rock include flamboyant and flashy clothing, makeup and hairstyles, genderbending, elements of sci-fi at times and a general desire to stand out and put the "art" in the word "artist".
