'Emily in Paris' Gets Renewed For A Second Season On Netflix
It turns out that American social media prodigy Emily Cooper is staying in Paris for a bit longer, as the popular Netflix comedy-drama series Emily in Paris gets picked up for another season, likely to be released in 2021.
In case you've managed to successfully avoid the whole Netflix phenomenon known as Emily in Paris, the soapy rom-com series comes to us from the creator of Sex and the City, Darren Star, and is about an ambitious young American from Chicago who lands a job in a French marketing company for luxury brands, embarking on a new life in Paris filled with adventures and challenges. The French flair and ambience are strong—perhaps a little too strong as critics point out—as the show was shot on location in Paris and other parts of France. Despite the negative reviews, however, the show immediately earned its spot in Netflix Thailand's top 10 most-watched shows during the week of its premiere.
Darren Star offers insight on the second season, saying that "Emily is going to be more of a part of the fabric of the world she’s living in. She’ll be more of a resident of the city. She’ll have her feet on the ground a little more. She’s making a life there.”
Hopefully this means that we'll get to see Emily’s romance with hunky French chef Gabriel unfurl and that maybe, just maybe in season two, Emily will actually learn to speak some real French.
