The luxury off-the-grid cabin seeks to encourage more travellers to reconnect with the wild

Matthew McConaughey’s latest environmentally-focused project comes in the form of a luxurious cabin on the Central Coast of New South Wales. The cabin is part of a collaboration between McConaughey and bourbon company Wild Turkey. The property is part of the company’s “Wild Turkey with Thanks” initiative, which aims to encourage more people to get in touch with nature and while learning to respect and preserve it for generations to come.

The cabin, named The Reserve, was design directed by Matthew, in collaboration with Unyoked, a groundbreaking, innovative travel startup based in Australia, and is equipped with solar panels, a hidden Wild Turkey bar, and made with sustainable materials that are designed to blend into the natural landscape. The cabin has no Wi-Fi, so as to encourage guests to explore the land rather than taking photos of it for Instagram.

“I’ve always been in awe of Australia’s natural beauty. My hope now is that The Reserve by Wild Turkey x Unyoked cabin will inspire Australians to reconnect with nature as an antidote to the frenetic pace of life,” McConaughey said in a statement.

The cabin also features many personal touches from McConaughey himself, including a curated collection of books and a selection of vintage cassette tapes, which include some of McConaughey’s favourite music—from Bob Dylan to Sturgill Simpson.

The property will be available for bookings starting in December and can be booked through the Wild Turkey website directly.

All proceeds from stays in the cabin will be donated to Unyoked’s charity partner, Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife, which marks the first step in a number of planned conservation initiatives from Wild Turkey.
