Lhong 1919 Celebrates 100 Years With A Spectacular 'Four Reigns' Musical
The narrative of Mae Ploy's life is a story familiar to many Thais. Having grown up in a palace, the primadonna narrates her life events from childhood until her final years, witnessing the succession of four different monarchs. Originally written by MR Kuekrit Pramote, the story was published in short form in a daily column in Thairath newspaper in 1951. Three years later in 1953, it finally became a novel.
Considered to be one of the most important pieces of Thai contemporary literature, Four Reigns (See Pan Din) does not only recount important historical moments but is also a reflection of the familial love that is important in Thai culture. Beloved by the nation, the story has been adapted into television and radio shows, as well as musicals notably played by Takonkiet Veerawan and Sinjai Plengpanich as the lead role of Mae Ploy.
Celebrating the century-old heritage of the Thai-Chinese Wanglee family who own Lhong 1919, Rujiraporn Wanglee, the venue's executive, presents See Pan Din – The Legend Musical @ Lhong 1919, a musical stage performance of the story of Four Reigns directed by 'godfather' of the play himself, Takonkiet Veerawan. The outdoor musical is given a special touch, having the real Chao Praya river— a crucial element of the plot's setting—as the backdrop. The modern musical of a classic story at Lhong 1919 will also integrate multimedia technology and should definitely not be missed.
Until December 15, there will be a total of 10 performances of See Pan Din – The Legend Musical @ Lhong 1919. For more information click here, and to book your seats, visit thaiticketmajor.com or call 02-262-3456. Tickets range from 1,500 to 7,000 baht.
