A Christmas movie marathon

Whether you’re looking for heartwarming classics like Home Alone or in the mood for Netflix-original festive flicks like A Christmas Prince, you’re bound to find a movie (or two) from our list of Christmas movies on Netflix that will get you in the holiday spirit.

1. Home Alone (1990)

Don’t we all wish we were Macaulay Culkin, home alone and free to get up to all kinds of troubles at that age? In this iconic festive flick, the eight-year-old boy battles two dimwit thieves in the absence of his parents with some genius booby-traps—it’s a light-hearted classic that' never gets old.

2. The Night Before Christmas (1993)

Jack Skellington the Pumpkin King has grown weary of the same Halloween celebrations year after year, until he stumbles through a portal to Christmas Town and decides to celebrate the holiday. Will the whole town be on board with making Christmas scary? You'll need to watch the movie to find out.

3. The Polar Express (2004)

On the night of Christmas Eve, a young boy boards a mysterious train bound for the North Pole and embarks on an extraordinary journey to visit Santa Claus. His belief in the magic of Christmas takes a turn after his encounters with special people on his journey.

4. The Family Stone (2005)

When a New York career woman accompanies her boyfriend home for the holiday, she realises his liberal family is a terrible match for her, which turns Christmas celebration into family complications. 

5. Four Christmases (2008)

What happens when you Christmas holiday plan is foiled? In the story of Four Christmases, the couple are forced to spend their Christmas with their divorced parents—in a single day.

6. A Very Murray Christmas (2015)

Bill Murray singing “Jungle Bells” is all you need to spice up this Christmas, with an all-star cast including George Clooney, Miley Cyrus, Julie White, Chris Rock and more to present a Christmas special that will bring a smile to every face in the room.

7. Daddy's Home 2 (2017)

Starring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg who play the comedic co-dads, this festive comedy is set around Christmas, which gets even funnier when their own fathers make a holiday visit.

8. Christmas Inheritance (2017)

Christmas Inheritance tells the story of Ellen (played by Eliza Taylor), a heiress to a gift company who must accept the challenge to deliver a box of Christmas letters to her father’s hometown, Snow Falls, in order to become the CEO. Along the way, she learns the true meaning of the holiday.

9. The Princess Switch (2018)

Vanessa Hudgens plays dual roles as a Stacey, a Chicago baker, and Margaret, Duchess of the fictional kingdom of Montenaro. The two meet at a royal baking competition and decide to switch identities, and there begins the romantic entanglements.

10. The Christmas Chronicles (2018)

Kurt Russell stars as Santa Claus—do we need any more reasons to watch this Netflix original? A charmingly cheesy story of a brother and sister who save Christmas after accidentally crashing Santa’s sleigh, this delightful festive adventure is sure to bring holiday cheer to all members of the family.

11. The Holiday Calendar (2018)

Abby (played by Kat Graham) inherits an antique holiday advent calendar from her grandfather, which has a magical power that predicts the future—including a budding romance. 

12. Klaus (2019)

A new twist on the original Santa Claus story from the co-creator of “Despicable Me”, Klaus tells the story of the world’s worst postman, who is posted to the frozen island above the Arctic Circle, where he meets a new friend named Klaus. 

13. The Knight Before Christmas (2019)

Following on from the success of The Princess Switch, Vanessa Hudgens is back to the Netflix-original holiday genre in this year’s The Knight Before Christmas, which follows a science teacher who’s given up on love until she meets a time-displaced medieval knight.

14. A Christmas Prince 3: The Royal Baby (2019)

Netflix’s feel-good Christmas series brings us back to the fictional country of Aldovia—with a royal baby! This time, Queen Amber and King Richard must host royals from a faraway kingdom, but when the priceless 600-year-old treaty goes missing, pregnant Amber uses her wits to save the nation.

15. Holiday in the Wild (2019)

Africa may seem to be an odd setting for a Christmas movie, but it makes sense to Kate (played by Kristin Davis) who decides to go on a safari on her own after her marriage ends unexpectedly. Luckily, her pilot turns out to be quite the catch.

16. Let It Snow (2019)

If you’re a fan of Love Actually, then you’ll probably enjoy this teen-driven version of the classic holiday hit. Let It Snow is a heartwarming story of five characters, whose separate-yet-related lives collide when a snowstorm hits their small town on Christmas Eve.

17. Holiday Rush (2019)

Following his wife’s death, radio DJ Rush Williams (played by Romany Malco) copes with his wife’s death by spoiling his four children. When he loses his job right before Christmas, he’s forced to downsize his life and comes to realise what brings true joy: family.
