NDC Design’s bungalow in the Mines Resort comes complete with a wine cellar, golf lounge, and is adjacent to the extended family home
Located in the Mines Resort, Selangor, the brief was to build a separate bungalow on a piece of land beside the client’s family house in a gated guarded community.
As the client’s own family expanded, the need arose to build his own home while still being close to his parents. To fulfil this, NDC Design were commissioned to design a two-storey bungalow with a contemporary tropical design.
“One of the interesting requirements, apart from having the necessary living functions, is his requirement for a wine room to house his extensive collection of 2000 bottles of wine,” recalls Tan Kay Neth, one of the founders of NDC Design.
“As an avid golfer, he also wanted a games room that could fit a golf simulator and entertainment lounge.”

On the house facade, the ground floor entrance is clad with limestone. “These were arranged piece by piece by craftsmen to give a sense of stability and texture to the house,” says Tan.
On the upper floor, openable timber louvres are used throughout as a privacy screen for the bedrooms above. The interplay between these timber elements and the robust textured stone creates a subtle yet visually appealing contrast.
