Tatler’s astrologer Casey Chan offers some fun decor ideas on how you can personalise your home based on your star sign

The home is a deeply personal and intimate space. Oftentimes, we build our space based on stylish trends or what works for others, instead of following what we personally need to feel truly nourished. But perhaps we should take a closer look at how our star signs help guide our design decisions in our homes to create a harmonious space that caters to our needs and well-being.

To start, we recommend looking at your Moon sign first, followed by the Sun and Rising signs. That is because the Moon represents our internal landscape and speaks directly to what makes us feel emotionally safe and happy, which is ultimately what we want our home to support us in feeling as well.

An extra tip when it comes to decorating your home is taking into consideration the element of your signs. For fire signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) who are full of passion and energy, the home can be a creative rendering of your boldest expression. From wall colour to the bathroom doorknob, make decisions based on what represents your personality in the most authentic way.

For earth signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) who are deeply connected to the physical environment, pay extra attention to practicality and the fine details. Make choices based on your five senses and what feels physically comforting.

For air signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius) who are quick and adaptive, the physical space of the home plays an important role. Tune into what makes you feel good and excited, which could be something new every day, and give yourself the permission to make changes as you go.

For water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) who feel deeply and are highly sensitive, it is important to build a sanctuary that feels relaxing and soothing. Let your emotions and intuition guide you in creating a space that allows you to retreat, rest, and recharge after a long day.

Here, we break down the home style that each zodiac sign naturally gravitates toward, as well as what makes them feel the most at home.

Aries

Show off your go-getter personality, and give space to at least one corner in your home where you can be unapologetically bold. You naturally have bursts of energy, so don’t shy away from bright colours like red or orange. Try to avoid permanent fixtures just in case you change your mind.

Taurus

Treat yourself like the king and queen that you are. Whether it be candles, salt lamps, or the softest blanket throws, your home needs something that makes you feel personally pampered and cared for. Create a luxurious space that comforts you from the inside out, prioritise beauty and cosiness.

Make your home your favorite playground. Fill the space with fun colours, interesting textures, and playful designs, and the more dynamic, the better. Your curious mind finds joy in constant stimulation; think puzzles and books everywhere, bright and colourful walls, essential oils diffusing, peculiar plants, and dance music blasting on the speakers.

Cancer

Create a home within your space by following what feels safe and nourishing. The best home decor may just be your favorite photo from a nostalgic family trip. When life gets a little tough, it’s important you have a sanctuary to return home to. Prioritise emotional resonance over surface-level practicality.

Leo

Your home should reflect your sun-kissed personality in the loudest way possible. Think rich texture, bold decor, and vibrant colours. You are full of creativity, so a creation corner could be useful for when inspiration hits, perhaps a room filled with paint brushes or an empty space for intuitive movements.

Virgo

Create a space that makes the most sense to you, practicality and order are keys here. Keep things minimalistic with simple and clean designs, and generously invest in gadgets that excite the organiser in you; for example, you could research and look for the quickest hairdryer in town or the most efficient filing cabinet ever existed.

Libra

Your home ideally invokes a sense of calmness and harmony in you, it’s equally important that the style is aesthetically pleasing. Use soft colours, beautiful textures and designs that are easy on the eyes. Whatever is soothing for your soul is perfect for helping you cultivate your internal balance and ease.

Scorpio

Create an intimate sanctuary for yourself. You feel deeply, so having a home where you feel emotionally safe and supported is crucial. Key themes to keep in mind are deep, sensual, magical, and mysterious. Experiment with darker shades, candlelight, drapes around the bed, and mirrors everywhere–the more sacred the vibe, the better.

Sagittarius

Showcase your favourite books, wisest quotes and exotic collections of objects from around the globe. Lay out your Chinese tea pot set in a bohemian corner on an antique French table–it’s unique, it’s unpredictable, it’s you. Your home should be a reminder that the vaster world is always within your touch.

Capricorn

Traditional fixtures and a simple home design speak to the part of you that values practicality and structure. As an earth sign, elements such as wood and bricks instantly make you feel at home. Avoid cluttering your space with objects that don’t add practical value and invest in timeless pieces that are of good quality instead.

Aquarius

What’s a quirky style that screams your name? Your home space should be a representation of your head space, which is as outside the box as it could get. Say no to clutter and yes to airy spaciousness, and get your hands on the most innovative gadgets.

Pisces

Let your inner poet lead the way in creating a home space that’s otherworldly and romantic. Hang beautiful art, sprinkle rose petals, and burn your favorite incense. Incorporate a spiritual space that allows you to retreat and connect within, perhaps build a cozy corner for making music, or simply for daydreaming.
