International Celebrities Amongst The A-List Crowd At The Elephant Boat Race & River Festival 2020
From February 28 to March 1, Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas hosted the Elephant Boat Race & River Festival 2020, a charitable event to raise funds for Thai elephants. Held at the banks of the Chao Phraya near the Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort, the three-day festivities included thrilling competitions between the country's top boat race teams as well as a variety of entertainment, such as concerts, arts and crafts workshops, live art, kite-flying, fireworks and, of course, plenty of delicious food and beverages sourced from Bangkok's top restaurants and chefs. Raja Navy (Royal Thai Navy) ended up claiming the final glory of the race for the second year running. The team received a royal trophy graciously granted by His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua. Famous Thais spotted at the event included Amata Chittasenee, Jay Spencer, Jessica Amornkuldilok and Panittha Buri and family. International celebrities were also seen at this year’s Elephant Boat Race. They included author and creator of Sex and the City Candace Bushnell and New York fashion designer Nicole Miller, who joined in to cheer for their favourite teams. After three days, a generous sum was raised through ticket sales, which went towards various elephant welfare projects, including the Zoological Parks Organisation of Thailand.
