AWEN Hosts Thank-You Gala To Celebrate Woman Entreprenuers
An important event for women in Southeast Asia took place at JW Marriot Hotel on June 21. Khunying Natthika Wattanavekin Angubolkul, the chairwoman of AWEN, or the ASEAN Women Entrepreneurs Network, and the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security hosted a thank-you gala to give recognition to over 100 female ASEAN entrepreneurs. The night started with speeches by Dr Porametee Vimolsiri, permanent secretary for social development and human security, AWEN Thailand executive chairwoman ML Preeyapun Sridhavat and a representative from UN Women for Asia-Pacific, Anna-Karin Jatfors.
Over 300 distinguished guests from 10 countries including Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam and Thailand joined the convention in their traditional costumes while Thailand, as the host nation, presented the best of the nation's cuisine and arts. A performance of Narai Song Suban showcased Thailand's theatrical talents to the guests, while a fashion show was presented to champion the beauty of Thai silk. Ending the night was the award ceremony. Receiving awards from Thailand were entrepreneurs Chataya Supanpong, chief engagement officer of Food Passion, Tirawan Taechaubol, project development manager of Kasemkij Group and Cape & Kantary Hotels Group, and Wallaya Chirathivat, deputy chief executive officer of Central Pattana PCL.
