Foodies on the hunt for something new to check out this month can head directly over to Volti Restaurant & Bar at the Shangri-La Hotel as the Italian fine-dining spot unveils an exciting new a la carte menu. Specially created by executive sous chef Phillip Taylor, guests can expect hearty contemporary Italian plates signature to Volti in a menu that combines both flavour and aesthetic.

Having spent over 13 years in leading restaurants across Australia, Europe and Asia, chef Phillip Taylor is a firm believer that “the adrenaline, the character and camaraderie between the chefs” are a big part of what makes the kitchen environment so great. This love for warmth and sincerity are reflected not only in the chefs’ charming nature, but also in the welcoming ambiance of Volti Restaurant & Bar. Brick walls lined by greenery surround an off-white interior filled with contemporary decor, offering a stylish yet welcoming space for an evening of upscale Italian. An outdoor terrace and al fresco area on the lower floor offers the perfect spot for social events. What really makes the venue stand out are the three storey-windows. Facing the river, they provide spectacular unobstructed views of the Chao Phraya, adding that small touch of special to your evening plans.

What to expect of this new a la carte menu? According to Chef Phillip Taylor, the dishes were designed in accordance to a belief that “the look should not matter less than the taste, but are also visually compelling”, resulting in a series of plates that “taste as good as it looks”. Guests can indulge in palatable numbers creatively presented, from the refreshing insalata di burrata to the flavourful espresso poached and caramelised foie gras. Be sure not to miss out on this month’s highlight: the wagyu picanha. Top quality wagyu beef is tenderly grilled, complemented with a selection of sauces and side dishes. The menu ends off with exquisitely crafted desserts curated to reflect a concept of East meets West.
