The local culinary industry is immersed in all things TAT-sponsored Michelin this week, but it is gratifying that our annual Thailand Tatler’s Best Restaurants Guide—which has been illuminating the upper echelons of the country’s dining scene for 16 years now—also got a look-in amongst all the stellar hype.
Commenting the other day on the award of a Michelin star to Elements, the French restaurant at The Okura Prestige Bangkok, Edward Snoeks, the hotel’s GM, very proudly stated,
“Receiving a Michelin star is a great honour for chef Antony Scholtmeyer and his team. It is the culmination of a fantastic 12 months for Elements, which began with the restaurant placing in the top five of the country’s 10 best eateries in Thailand Tatler’s Best Restaurants 2017.”
High praise indeed. In fact, of the 17 restaurants to receive Michelin stars, seven placed in our Top 10 and Le Normandie, Mezzaluna and Gaggan—our 1st, 2nd and 3rd ranked restaurants—were the only outlets in the inaugural Michelin Guide Bangkok to receive two stars. Our team of reviewers is currently slap bang in the middle of visiting restaurants for the 2018 edition of Thailand Tatler’s Best Restaurants, due for publication in March next year. Keep your eyes open for our 2018 list of the best in Bangkok and throughout the kingdom. While we may not yet have the global recognition of the much-vaunted Michelin Guide, Thailand Tatler’s Best Restaurants Guide, alongside those of our sister Tatler titles across the region, provides a local expertise that clearly enhances the dining experience at a host of great restaurants.
