Let Karmakamet Conveyance Take You On A Culinary 'Expedition'
Karmakamet Conveyance wants to take diners on a new adventure with their latest menu, which aims to change the traditional experiences into something fresh, different, unique and ultimately exciting. In this new menu, called Expedition, chef Som offers a twist that forces diners to focus on taste. A show-not-tell presentation, Expedition has no physical menu or any explanations about each of the dishes, turning them into a conversation and defiantly, a centre of attention.
Inspired by the places the chef has travelled to, the ten-course meal will grapple diners with a mystery. Once you sit down at your table, you’re greeted with a rock that is from one of the chef Som's memorable places.
Starting, diners receive cherry glued to a dish that makes a loud pop sound when approached. Once the fragrance of the cherry has left our taste buds, the dishes that follow appear inspired by Chinese, Indian and Thai cuisine, except for a personal favourite of mine, a twist of the ham-cheese sandwich: a bread ball stuffed with ham and cheese.
There is no final main dish but two. Fish is followed by noodles and in between the two mains is a shot of “miracle water”. The course is finished with a sea salt ice cream and caramelised sugar sheet.
The Expedition tasting menu consists of 10 courses for 2,490 baht per person.
