The second season of Tatler Tours begins with visits to some of the best speakeasies on the island, including Taylor Adam, Junior the Pocket Bar and Sago House
Singapore is brimming with various bar concepts like speakeasies, or watering holes hidden in plain sight, mimicking hidden bars that arose during the Prohibition Era in the United States during the 1920s. The era saw a constitutional ban on production, importation, transportation, and sale of alcoholic beverages in the United States, resulting in illegal manufacturing and sale of liquor as well as the rise of speakeasies.
Unlike conventional bars with flashy signs and crowded entrances, speakeasies embrace secrecy with discreet entrances, hiding behind unassuming facades. The air of exclusivity adds to their allure, inviting imbibers to uncover its charm.
