The Okura Prestige Bangkok's Tea Set Will Transport You To Sakura Season, Japan
It is once again the season when Japan experiences an inundation of tourists hungry to experience the beauty of the blossoming sakura. To celebrate cherry blossom season, the Okura Prestige Bangkok is offering a special Sakura Afternoon Tea Set at Up & Above Bar for those have no plan to fly to Japan to face the crowd.
The Sakura Afternoon Tea Set is both sweet and savoury with each bite sized food inspired by Japanese spring. Savoury selections include finger sandwiches like the karashi sandwich with smoked pickles, bite-size shrimp and apple salad choux, cucumber sandwich and the warm poached egg with truffle and potato espuma.
But no afternoon tea is complete without a selection of delightful desserts. Sakura chocolate praline with real sakura blossom, sakura mont blanc, white peach and lychee verrine, lychee & peach cheesecake, choux cream cherry blossom macaron and sakura scones served with jams and home-crafted clotted cream are just some of the tea sweets to be enjoyed in this set. Another highlight that we must mention is a refreshing peach sorbet—for those of you who miss the taste of cold country peaches.
As for the teas featured in this set, specially crafted sakura selections come from Mariage Frères. There is also fresh-brewed Illy coffee, but if you are not in the mood for coffee or tea, try amazing creations from the Okura's talented mixologists. The Regional Fresh Fruit Cocktails are meticulously crafted with seasonal Thai fruits and premium Thai, Japanese and Cuban spirits. Creations include the Ratchaburi Mango, Miss Nakornpathom—made with pomelo—and Queen of Lychee.
The Okura Prestige Bangkok's Sweet & Savoury Sakura Afternoon Tea is available from April 1 to June 30, 2–5pm daily at Up & Above Bar. The tea set is priced 1,290++ baht for two. The Regional Fresh Fruit Cocktails are available from April 1 to June 30 as well, noon til midnight at Up & Above Bar. Prices start at 290++ baht.
