4 Unique Afternoon Tea Sets To Experience In July
Every season, hotels vie for the most outstanding afternoon tea programmes. We tried a lot of them ahead of time, and these are our faves for the month of July:
Triple “A” Experience — The Lobby, The Peninsula Bangkok
The Peninsula is definitely a leader of innovation in the afternoon tea game. Infusing technology into the presentation of brew and pastries, their Art and Augmented Reality Afternoon Tea is a collaboration of three parties—executive pastry chef Nicolas Pelloie, illustrator Pichaya Osothcharoenpol and musicians from College of Music at Mahidol University—for one amazing AR experience you'll definitely want to tell your friends about. Watch mythological lions dance around your teapot and other characters clasp at your tomato macarons and more.
The Triple "A" Experience is served daily at The Lobby until Thai Mother's Day, August 12 and is priced 1600++ baht for two.
Refreshing Lavender Afternoon Tea — Up and Above Bar, The Okura Prestige
The sakura season has just passed, and it is now time for Refreshing Lavender Afternoon Tea at the Okura Prestige. Bringing you into Japanese summertime, this afternoon tea programme offers a selection of freshments, including premium cha, coffee and even sparkling. Enjoy them with beautiful mauve themed bites. For sweets, try the lavender honey and yoghurt potted crème and the homemade purple potato sorbet. For savoury, the artisan salmon gravlax is pleasant to the eyes and palate.
The Refreshing Lavender Afternoon Tea is served at Up & Above until September 30, from 2pm to 5pm daily, at 1,290++ baht per two people.
Limited Edition Chocolate Afternoon Tea — Living Room, Park Hyatt
Another one on the list that merges art and afternoon treat is the Park Hyatt's Limited Edition Chocolate Afternoon Tea. Inspired by Pablo Picasso's The Chocolate Pot, pastry chef Kevin Lee has designed a very special tea set featuring treats like the chocolate passion fruit tart, Jivara milk chocolate and many other cocoa-based menus. Meanwhile, savoury bites such as the croc tomato with mozzarella and basil and the tuna pan bagnat with quail egg and olive taggiasche are a salivating way to start the afternoon delight.
The Limited Edition Chocolate Afternoon Tea will be served between July 20 and 29 at the Living Room for 1790++ for two.
Thai Afternoon Tea — Erawan Tea Room, Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok
It's always nice to appreciate the food and culture of our home country. Erawan Tea Room looks out and up to the world-famous Erawan Shrine with the Thai Afternoon Tea set. Until the end of September, the famous team room is serving local delights such as pomegranate and fresh vegetable rolls, deep-fried prawn in coconut sauce and mango sticky rice with perfect tea pairings. Prepare for an amalgamation of traditional treats which are sometimes overlooked in today's world.
Thai Afternoon Tea is served at the Erawan Tea Room daily from 2.30pm until 6pm for 650++ per person.
